Founded in Sherbrooke in 2019 by choreographer Nicolas Zemmour, ZemmourBallet is a Québec-based Épaissisme dance company and a Canadian registered charity. The company creates, produces and tours original choreographic works built around a central conviction: dance can do more than represent human experience—it can allow us to pass through it.
Épaissisme: a language of experience At the heart of ZemmourBallet lies Épaissisme. More than an aesthetic or visual style, Épaissisme is an artistic movement and a compositional language rooted in the full density of human experience. Bodies, gestures, speech, music, space and duration are brought into relation to reveal tensions, memories, contradictions and human connections. Each creation is conceived as an experience to be lived through, rather than an object to be merely observed.
